Inspired by my trip yesterday and by an odd image encountered in Craughan cemetery (below), I started to write an aimless short story that began with an American student photographing contemporary examples of grave goods in a cemetery in Ireland;

From there, the location changed to Ballyheigue, where I mixed the story of the mermaid, the experience of walking on the strand with my reaction to the disturbing story by Livia Llewllyn; 'The Last, Clear Bright Summer' to conjure up a story of a seagod and folk rituals and inevitable annihilation...

And then I press 'Send' and ushered it on its way to the Gothic Blue Book V anthology. Godspeed, 'The Graveyard of the Lost'!
Now off for a well-deserved Indian feast with Maria, Kevin and Scott. I earned this.
