Day 7. Sea, sand...and ruins of course!

Drove to Ballyheigue and had an IDYLLIC afternoon with Siobhan, photographing Ballyheigue Castle and walking on the strand.

The remains of the castle are gorgeous; the legacy of the Crosbie family who allegedly married into a local mermaid dynasty...

There's also an account of a paranormal vison there in the 1960's (http://www.paranormaldatabase.com/ireland/kerry.php) and of a strange photograph of a ghost (a http://www.mysteriousbritain.co.uk/republic-of-ireland/kerry/hauntings/ballyheigue-castle.html).

We also walked the strand (home of the mermaids and also scene of Crosbie coffin burials to commemorate family deaths). Lovely day!

On a final note, was chatting to Betty next door before I left. She told me there is a Famine grave just down the road (beside St. Munchin's) and other hidden ruins on my doorstep. Next investigations may be next door!
